How hard is it to get a letter of recommendation from your command in the Navy?

If you are an outstanding sailor...No big deal. CO/XO will write you a letter at the drop of a hat. If you are a tool-bag, forget about it. Work hard and they will notice. They will hook you up. Also, your CO will talk with your Chief to see exactly what type of character you have.
