Skateboarding question. Please help this roookie!!!?

I wouldnt spend a ton of $ on your 1st board...what if you dont like it? I got my first skateboard at target for like $20 and I learned to ride it and ollie on it. Now that I know Im gonna keep at it then I might buy a good one.
