Masonry Waterproofing Paint, Does it really work?

I am desperate to know if anyone has ever used a masonry waterproofing paint, such as Behr or Drylok in an unfinished basement to help with moisture/water coming through the walls. DOES IT REALLY WORK??? I GOTTA KNOW! Please help!
